Oats Overnight / Flavor Ratings
Their homemade spreadsheets were a product idea.
Turning the way customers remembered their favorites into something useful for everyone.
Human behavior · Product · UX · Research01The problem
Customers had plenty of flavors to keep track of. They were already using notes, spreadsheets, and community posts to remember what they liked. That effort was useful to them, but disconnected from the product.
02What I saw
People were doing the work without being asked. The opportunity was to support a behavior they already cared about, instead of giving them another survey to complete.
03The idea
Give customers a simple, satisfying place to remember their favorites. Make that personal value the starting point for more structured product feedback.
04 / What I made
A place for every “I liked that one.”
I designed a ratings-and-notes experience with star ratings, autosaving notes, and small moments of celebration. It grew to support more product categories and later connected feedback with loyalty rewards.
The shipped ratings-and-notes experience: personal flavor memory, made part of the product.
05What changed
Customers gained a built-in place to track their preferences, while the business gained more structured feedback to learn from. The tool shipped and evolved inside the customer app. Its value connects a useful personal habit with an ongoing product-feedback loop.
06My role
I led the experience end to end: observing customer behavior, shaping the idea, designing and testing the interactions, and collaborating with the team to bring it into the app.
A more connected care experience
A good place to start
